In The Spotlight: Plaid!

I'll be the first to admit, the last time I wore plaid was when it graced every character on Home Improvement and I wanted to be them. Its come a long way since the 90's grunge, possibly due to the fact that it's paired with much more subtile accents. I'm convinced that the key to successful plaid is simplicity around the busy lines...

And while I'm still not completely sure that I should reupholster my vintage chair just yet, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and use it in accent pieces. I've definitely been rocking the plaid scarf lately.

Please Note: Watch out for the lumberjack look! No lady in her right mind would voluntairly try to look like a lumberjack, but be aware that if you do pair that plaid shirt + boots + jeans there will be that one guy who refers to you as Al Borland. Just warning ya.. ;)

DIY: Refresh A Vintage Treasure

I knew that when I finally created a blog, I wanted to write about my mom's beautiful wedding veil. I adored it from the first time she let me try it on ( see second pic down..please excuse the awkward stage :)

One afternoon mom and I found ourselves standing over the stove 'brewing' her heirloom veil like two witches, and thanks to a simple bag of Rit White Wash, were able to remove the 30 years worth of yellowing to give me the perfect headpiece for my wedding.

After the process was finished it turned out lovely, almost as if it were brand new. It was by far my most favorite DIY project to date. Moral of the story- don't be scared to try a DIY project with something that is meaningful to you, whether it be a piece of furniture or a garment. Go on...get to refreshing that heirloom!

The Art of Wallpaper

I will be the first to admit that I haven't thought twice about wallpaper since seeing my mother paste it all over our house as a child. This Tuesday I bring you a bit of design inspiration from Harlequin Design.

Although I am one for clean and simple design, I can't help but to get wrapped up in these patterns. Seeing these inspiring rooms gives me hope that one day I will wallpaper a room in my house in hopes that it will turn out like these. Enjoy!

It's A Mod World...

I recently came across a hot new hue that I really didn't think I could pull off. Turns out it is actually a very versatile nail color.  I have seen this color everywhere and so in it's honor I am dedicating my blog and very first blog post to it. Here's to you Jade!
