Spamalot

Last night we had the joy of seeing Monty Python's Spamalot and let me tell you it was SO ridiculously funny. It was by far the most enjoyable Broadway production that I have ever seen. My most favorite part had to be when they busted out the 'His Name Is Lancelot' song ..I was literally crying!
The set changes, lighting, acting, dancing, singing..everything was flawless! Josh even had a good time which, I have to admit, I was a little worried about. Well done cast and crew of Spamalot!

Have an exciting weekend.

My friends, what are your plans this weekend? Getting into anything fun? We hear it's going to be around 101 degrees in our area this weekend so Josh and I will be spending most of our time at our country club pool trying to stay cool. Tonight we're continuing our anniversary celebration (although this time in our hometown) to our favorite local restaurant Amsterdam Cafe. If you ever visit auburn Amsterdam is a MUST!

I'm working on gathering all of our photos from our trip and plan on sharing with you next week. Have a wonderful weekend and try to stay cool!

Toomer's Corner Oaks Poisoned

This weekend was rough. If you haven't already heard all over the news, our [Auburn University's ] historic twin oak trees have been poisoned by an angry rival team's fan and they have a less than 1% chance of survival. If you aren't an Auburn fan I know it's hard to understand why we're so upset...

To me, this corner and more importantly, rolling these trees after a victory, has been a family affair my entire life. My grandpa passed these oaks everyday when he played football for Auburn. It's hard to see them dying, helplessly, and not be able to do anything about it. You can read all the details on CNN.com (and see me sitting on my bro-in-law's shoulders when we rolled Toomer's Corner during the national championship, blogged about HERE).

We went to the Tree Hugging Rally this Saturday; it was so sad. I couldn't help but to break down and cry seeing "Please Do Not Roll The Trees" signs everywhere. It's sad to think that I will never get to meet with my family and friends at the oaks after a victory and roll them again.

I quickly created two tee-shirt designs HERE and am going to show my support for our poor oaks...

This isn't a normal blog post for me, I just needed to share and express my sympathy. I want to write down a few of the stories of my years of fun at Toomer's Corner, but right now, I think I'm still in shock and have extreme sadness in my heart.

You Are Beautiful

(via thelaymangroup.org)

While running around town this weekend, I happened to drive up on a small group of people holding signs that simply read: YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. I thought this was quite frankly the sweetest and most positive message from complete strangers I had ever seen, and honestly it just made my day.

I did some reasearch and found out that they are a part of a new nonprofit arts organization here in Auburn called The Layman Group.  Although I know little about them, this kind gesture was enough for me to sign up for their mailing list and add their site to my favorites to check back regularly. Heck, it made me want to get out my little magic marker and do the same thing! All in all, I'm glad to see that we still have kindness like this in the world that doesn't require anything in return.

We're National Champs!!!

It's 1:00 AM and we're in downtown Auburn, Alabama rolling Toomer's Corner!  Auburn hasn't won the national title since 1957 and I can't believe that I get to be a part of this moment! I'm going to continue celebrating but just wanted to give this quick post and tell everyone hello from Toomer's corner and of course...War Eagle! We're national champs baby!

Time for the BCS College Football Championship!

Friends, how is your Monday going? Are you among the lucky ones who were able to stay home and play in the snow? We got quite a bit of ice last night and work was called of early this morning, so exicting. Having the day off gives me a few extra hours to prepare for our big game tonight- our Auburn Tigers in the BCS National Championship!

I hope the rest of your day is great and (forgive me)..War Damn Eagle!
