The Great Muse

I have always been infatuated with Muses. Eccentric and fabulous, the whole world is enamored with not only the artist, but his muse. A few I personally find quite interesting:

Style icon Edie Sedgwick inspired the likes of Andy Warhol and Bob Dylan and left behind a fashion legacy that still lives on today.

Beatles' women traditionally kept out of the group's affairs, but Yoko wasn't content to be a passive sidekick. Frankly, Lennon would be less interesting without the avant-garde frivolities, sloganeering and bed-ins.

From Marc Jacobs to Marc Quinn to Corinne Day, Kate has been a muse to a number of well known photographers, designers and sculptors alike. As Marc Jacobs candidly put it,  “Kate is a muse to a generation … she defines a time, a feeling, that has become part of history”.

Introducing: New Blog Header

Hello dear friends, tonight is my official introduction to my new blog header. Blog header, meet my new friends. Friends, meet new blog header. Now we're all friends. I know your probably wondering why I'm changing it after such a short period of time, I'll take this moment to explain..

When I started my blog my main focus was to concentrate on fashion +  interior design and ways to inspire my readers in their everyday lives. I loved the look of the famous Barcelona Chair and thought it would be perfect to incorporate into my design. As time went on I found that I wasn't focusing on fashion and interior design as much as I had planned ( Blame the extreme ADD!), nor was I really pushing to inspire my readers with a magical post everyday. So, I figured I would redesign my header to suit the overall 'feel' of my blog a little better. Let's just say I'm switching from my black work trousers ( Yuck)  to my everyday comfy jeans. Hope you all enjoy!

Now, feel free to take a moment with old blog header if you need it.

Knit Denim Leggings From J.Crew

My cousin Brit met me for lunch last week wearing some of these. I'm officially in love.

I Can't Deal.

I want nothing more but to replace my sandals and shorts with boots and jackets, considering it's mid October and all. But right now, it seems ridiculous to even think about.

Love Or Leave?

I'm continuing my love and support for the fedora this season and find that I still can't seem to get enough of them. The classic hat, a staple for Bogart, MacMurray, and Cagney, continues to surprise me as I see that it's here to stay for a while. But why not? It looks good on everyone and seems to top off any outfit (pun intended). What do you think? Are you still a fedora fan or ready to see them go?

8 Answers to 8 Questions:

Simply Amy @ purelyamy.blogspot.com has asked me to answer 8 questions about myself. Who could ever turn down a chance to let your readers get to know you a little better? Amy, I accept your challenge!

What is the best gift you ever got for Christmas?
I can't say. They are all special in their own way from different people.

If you could start your own business what would it be?
A Specialty Print Shop..it's in the works and I should have a few prints available soon! See just one of many below!

What is your biggest pet peeve?

 This.

Did you accomplished your 2010 New Year Resolution?
For the first time in my life I can say YES I DID! It was to put myself out there more and stop second guessing myself so much. Take a chance, so to speak. And this blog is part of that. It's a very vulnerable feeling and I don't like it sometimes, but I'm pushing myself everyday.

Post a picture of your favorite Halloween decoration in your house.
I don't really have any in my house but I do have this big bowl of candy I'm obsessing over. I always insist on 'putting out the candy for the kids' about three weeks early.

Why, you ask?

(Deeep breath).........Because I crave chocolate every single day in this damn month because the bags are screaming at me to buy them in every store I walk in and you can only get the fun sizes around Halloween which I've been bitter about for years so I hoard them for the entire month of October and eat about 15 fun sized pieces a day until I never want to see the word FUN SIZE again.

What was your favorite vacation?
My Honeymoon. And I'm not just saying that because I'm supposed to. Best time ever.

What is your favorite food?
Chicken Salad.
(I could eat my weight in that shiz, fo real.)

What is your favorite picture?
I can't decide as far as home decor goes ( I have too many..see here).

I'm going to say I have two. Let me set up the scenario for the first one:

You take your boat out on a beautiful summer day to catch some rays and relax. Your husband spots a cliff and exclaims "I'm going to try a gainer off that!". Immediately I'm thinking that I don't like the words try, gainer and cliff together in one sentence. After blowing it off because I know he's too smart to try it due to the fact that his medical insurance is still pending I grab my camera start snapping away. I quickly see him do some crazy move off of the rock, thinking he's just waiving his limbs while doing a normal jump and then I see him come up, relieved that he's ok. Later, I decide to flip through our photos and stumble upon one where I saying, "What the hell is that? Is that a human? Are those arms?!" Then I zoom in even closer to find this:

It doesn't look like he came out alive based on his technique but he somehow landed it without injury. And no, he's never doing this again as long as I'm still breathing.  My cousin, ( to the right of the limb ball) told me afterwards that she swore she was seeing my husband leap to his death.

My second most favorite picture is this awesomely ridiculous candid of me and future hubby in middle school.

Spotlight On: Camel

To be honest anything in the color camel used to make me want to throw up in my mouth a little. I mean, I used to look at pictures of my dad in camel bell-bottoms and you know, that's just not cool.

Aside from my parents fixation with the color in their 20's, I'm finding that in my 20's it's (of course) coming back and I just can't help but to be on board. So for all of you who can't get the image of your dad in camel colored bell-bottoms out of your head, here's some inspiration that might do the trick...

The Amazing Pencil Sculptures of Dalton J. Paul Getty

The Pencil –  a tool used for painting, drawing, or putting down notes in the margins, but not to Dalton Getty. To him it's a whole new medium of modern art.

Dalton is a 45-year-old resident of Bridgeport who turns ordinary pencils into miniature sculptures, without using a magnifying glass He works very slowly and does not use any special tools: for he needed only a blade, a sewing needle and a very bright light. To protect his vision, the author works for one and half hours a day. One tiny sculpture may take several months, and one creation may take Dalton 2 and a 1/2 years.

Dalton believes that his sculptures are forcing people to stay for at least a few moments to escape from the mad rhythm of modern life and see the beauty in miniature detail.

All I can say is that this man has extreme patience!
